Mesa Arch at CanyonlandsBack arrowfoward arrow

Mesa Arch, located approximately 6 miles south from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center in Canyonlands National Park, is truly a southwest classic. To capture this photo, my wife and assistant, Tina and I had arrived the site before dawn to claim our spot among about 30 anxious photographers. Later I found out that I was one of three still using film. The anxiety grew into anticipation while waiting for the sun to make is appearance. At the first signs of first light the sound the sound of shutters releasing filled the air and I shot my photo after seaching on my hand held meter for the correct time exposure, this was truly an exciting moment.
